About Me

I’m a nurse practitioner . . . graduated in May 2019 and completed my ANCC certification in June 2019.

And although I’m proud of graduating and getting my certification, it wasn’t easy . . . it’s still not easy.

The job search, the new job, the stuff I thought I knew, the stuff I never learned, the stuff I didn’t even know I didn’t know! Yup, I’m pretty green . . . and will be for a while.

During the last four years I learned a lot about diseases and diagnoses, medications and lab values but the whole time I felt like I couldn’t learn fast enough. I’m a strong student: good writer, quality memorization skills, and loads of determination and grit.

But I still felt like I was drowning at times.

If you can relate, NP Rush is for you. It’s a place where we can help each other. Share information, impart advice, and even laugh about the whole process!

In case you’re interested, here’s the Cliff note version of me

  • My fabulous husband and I have a band —The Hip Replacements. He beats the drums and sings lead; I play alto sax! It’s a lot of fun!
  • I’m a mother of two and bonus mom of three. All seven of us share Sadie Hildegarde, our Bernese Mountain dog.
  • When I’m not reading nurse practitioner books, I’m usually writing.
  • However, I also enjoy cross-country skiing, cycling, kickboxing, hiking, reading, and knitting.

Thanks for visiting my site but most of all, thanks for coming along on the NP Rush journey!

Cheers!
