Take Care of the Feet and Nobody Gets Hurt

Nurses use their feet on the daily, even if it’s just to walk to the bathroom and back. That’s a joke, we all know nurses don’t get bathroom breaks.

If you get a nurse a gift that pampers the tootsies, it shows that you know more about what we do as nurses than the average-Joe non-nurse.

  • Let’s start with my fav! The TheraFlow Dual Foot Massager. This little gadget feels like your feet are eating cocoa covered almonds. At first it’s nice and sweet but, with a bit of pressure, it explodes to find pressure points your feet didn’t know it had. Could you imagine the ecstasy if you ate cocoa covered almonds WHILE using this = mind blown!

  • The HTLPRO Compression Socks are a must have for every nurse. I wore them every. single. night. I used to work 12 hour nights in the Peds ICU and if I wasn’t wearing these socks, my legs and feet would be throbbing by 2a.m.
  • This one is a luxury, but hey, we’re talking feet here. The Avocado Foot Peel Mask is amazing. I’ve tried several but the avocado makes my heels come out smoother than a baby’s bottom. My husband never refuses to rub my feet, even if refusing were an option.

Nurses Have Stomachs Too, You Know

I could go on all day about taking care of our feet. But we can’t neglect the nurses’ other vital organ: the stomach. And believe it or not there are practical stomach-friendly gifts for nurses.

  • The first is so practical, you can’t pass it up. The Tervis My Superpower is Nursing insulated tumbler is a wonder. It will keep the hot drinks hot and the cold drinks cold for an entire 8 hour shift. No comment about how wonderfully it will keep red wine at room temperature. Hey, I can use it at home too!
  • I don’t want to loose you on this one so hear me out. Nurses are crazy busy and crazy in need of nutrition. They know it more than anyone. I found a way to get a nutritional boost that is quick, easy, and doesn’t taste like the scrapings off a lawnmower. I love OrganiFi Green Juice. And any nurse who believes have of what they learned in nutrition class knows they need this supplement.

There’s a Reason Nurses Carry Bags

In nursing school you have to take at least 3 hours of Bag Class to graduate. Some of my friends took 6 hours but they were overachievers. In Bag Class they taught us the fundamentals of not mixing books with food and not mixing nursing supplies with sweaters. That’s why every nurse needs a plethora of bags. Believe me, it’s just easier this way.

  • I carried this backpack every day straight for 2 years and it held up great. The Sakroots Circle Flap Backpack is a favorite of mine (I have two of them!!) If this is your first hearing of Sakroots, you might be interested to know that lowering the environmental impact of their products is one of the company’s goals for 2029. Sweet!
  • And then there’s the tote. Every nurse needs at least one more. This Nurses Rock Tote in hot pink fits the bill. The hot pink ensures that it will match at least 50% of scrubs. They also have it blue if you have an aversion to pink.

Want to Avoid Crabby Nurse Syndrome . . . Encourage Sleep

Nurses are notorious for burning the candle at both ends. Add in our families and our Netflix addictions and things can get down right ugly at times. Why not show your nurse that you care deeply about their deep sleep needs with these tried and true gift options.

  • The best ever no pressure mask: The 3D Ergonomic Eye Mask for sleeping. It is comfy and stays in place. This is an absolute must for the night shift nurse. I know they make black out shades, but this is a whole lot cheaper!
  • To ensure a proper rest, we have to block out the sound too. These Hearprotek Earplugs are genuine awesome for doing just that. They’re not like those squishy disposable ones, with proper care they can last a long time. They block noise and they’re comfy to boot.
