This segment will conclude the You’ve Got Heart series. If you missed Part 1 or Part 2, don’t forget to go back.

February is American Heart Month, a great time to learn about your heart. Remember, heart disease can happen at any age.

To review a list of risk factors and discover things you can do now to take control of your heart health, visit Heart Disease: It Can Happen at Any Age.

In this final part of You’ve Got Heart, we’re going to delve deep — straight to the desires of your heart.

What Your Heart Wants

Your heart wants nothing more than to push blood toward every cell in your body day after day after day.

Your heart doesn’t want to have an attack or dodge high levels of cholesterol from 25 years of cheeseburgers and french fries.

Your heart’s desire is to beat strong . . . until the very end.

What Do You Want?

  • Happiness…
  • Money…
  • Freedom. …
  • Peace. …
  • Joy. …
  • Balance. …
  • Fulfillment. …
  • Confidence…

Whatever the desires of your heart, you’ll need your heart to get you there. When the desires of your heart are clear, knowing where you stand with your heart becomes a priority.

Although not all heart events are preventable, it is important to know where you stand with your heart. Evaluating your risk of cardiovascular disease is the first step. So, be honest.

Ask yourself

Do you smoke?
What is your activity level?
Are you overweight or obese?
Do you have diabetes?
How heart-friendly is your diet?

Know your numbers

What’s your blood pressure?
Your cholesterol level?
Your body mass index?
Your weight?

Remember, you’ve only got one heart! And you need it beating strong and healthy in order to pursue the desires of your heart.

Give your heart what it needs to be the relentless force that moves you through each day.
